Francis D. Carrier

Francis “Fran” Carrier, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Cayuga Medical Center. He was born on March 12, 1942 in Ithaca, NY to parents Louise and Clyde Carrier. He graduated from Ithaca High School.

Fran was extraordinarily proud of his service, first to country while serving four years in the air force, then to community in his 22 years in law enforcement for the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department and Ithaca Police Department. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf, bowling, hunting, fishing, and was a member of the Eagles since 1983. He was a collector of many things throughout his life, taking the most care and joy in coins and firearms. Later in life, he never wanted to miss a New York Yankees baseball game.

Fran is survived by his wife of 39 years, Margee of Newfield NY; his sister, Connie Kriner; two daughters, Amy Carrier (Mike Cole) and Suzie (Eric) Mauro; stepson Rod (Cindy) Martin; granddaughters Makena and Zoe Mauro whom he loved fiercely and relished hearing of their accomplishments; and nieces Missy Peters and Shelly Saxbury. He would also want to acknowledge the enduring friendship of Danny Baker, from their days with the IPD until now.

Fran did not want to be mourned but would rather be celebrated as having a life well lived. According to Fran’s wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services.
