Frances A. “Francie” Vecchi Kosikowski, 75, passed away January 7, 2022 with her family by her side in Oldsmar, FL.

She was born to the late Anne Hudak and Prof. Dr. Frank V. Kosikowski, February 25, 1946, in Ithaca, New York. She graduated from Ithaca High School in 1964 and received her B.A. in Fine Arts from Cornell University in 1968.

She married Mario P. Vecchi in 1969, and they shared 46 years building a family, developing each other, themselves and their careers, exploring the world, and savoring adventure. Francie is survived by three children: Gabriel A. Vecchi of Princeton, NJ; Daniel E. Vecchi of Berkeley, CA; and Eva M. Vecchi of Munich, Germany. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Emil, Maja, Elsa, Aurelia, Agata, and Matteo.

Francie traveled throughout her life, and gained so much from what she experienced across the States and abroad, and the many friends she met. During her schooling, she studied in Paris, Rome and Cork. She lived in Caracas, Venezuela for over 10 years after her time in Boston for graduate school. She traveled from Buenos Aires to Istanbul, from Iguazù to Sri Lanka, and everything in between throughout her life. She spent significant periods in Bruges, Belfast, and Florence, painting and learning. She lived all across the U.S., in Dublin, and in San Juan. Francie spoke English, Spanish, Italian, and French fluently, and had also studied German and Gaelic.

Francie was a unique and kind person who pursued the beautiful and amazing through her art, family, and friendships around the world. She painted her experience, and shared the beauty and wonders of her life and perspective with everyone. Above all, her curiosity, creativity, and optimism allowed her to experience the whole world as if everything was possible. Everyone who met Francie was immediately enchanted by her charm, intelligence, and kindness. She was irreplaceable and will be extremely missed.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday April 16, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Bangs Funeral Home in Ithaca, NY.
