Fontana, Esther M.
Esther Mary Fontana passed away peacefully on August 14, 2012. Esther was born in Ithaca on June 6, 1928, the daughter of Alfred and Mary Fontana. She was a graduate of Ithaca High School, worked at Challenges Industries for many years, and was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception church. Esther lived at Titus Towers in Ithaca for 22 years before moving to Cayuga Ridge six weeks ago. She is survived by her brother, Caesar (Kaaren Hoback) Fontana, her nephews, Steve (Carla) Fontana, Bob (Molly) Fontana and Tom (Linda) Fontana, her nieces, Chris (Cindy Linville) Fontana and Lynn (David) Fontana-Maisel, her close friend Beth Anderson, and nine great-nieces and nephews. Esther will be remembered for her love of colorful clothes and shoes, for her enjoyment of all the holidays, and for her sweet, gentle nature. Her family would like to give special thanks to Heidi and her staff at Titus Towers, to all the folks at Dr. Marne O'Shae's office, and to Dr. Nancy Stewart, who all took such good care of Esther over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Esther's name may be given to the SPCA or to Hospicare of Ithaca. We will miss you, Esther! Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
