Mrs Farkas was born August 28th, 1941 in Budapest, Hungary, the only child of Kostyal Zsigmond Tarnoi and Vilma Tarnoi, nee Linarics.  Eniko graduated as a Geological Technician in Hungary, and with a BA in Art History from Cornell University in 1993.  She was pre-deceased by her husband Louis Farkas.  She is survived by her son Leslie Farkas of Centreville, VA.  She met her husband Louis among the Hungarian expatriate community in Ithaca that had fled the 1956 revolution in Hungary.  She worked as a drafter in the Cornell Geological Sciences Department.  She later moved to work as a Book Conservator for Mann Library at Cornell University.  She retired from that position in the early 90s and went on to volunteer in numerous positions.

She was a gourmet who cooked in the traditional Hungarian style.  She was a gifted author who wrote numerous articles and  a cook book:  “Hungarian Cuisine and Personal Memories.”  She taught correspondence courses for the Embroidery Guild of America including Hungarian Kalocsa Needle Lace    She was a board member of the New York Folklore Society for several years.  She taught crafting classes at the local Greater Ithaca Activities Center, including making beaded necklaces.  She was gifted at embroidery, lace-making, tatting, and crocheting.

She was a lifelong member of the Hungarian Clubs of Syracuse and Rochester.

She volunteered at the Hungarian Booth in the Festival of Nations for many years.  The booth would typical feature her Hungarian Toll Painting.

One of the many things that she felt was a sign of her accomplishments was the ability to google her name and see all the articles and interviews she had done.

In the last two years of social-distancing, she took great joy in attending  Zoom Meetings of GIAC, Love Living at Home, and the Finger Lakes Mineral Club.

In earlier times, she also enjoyed meeting and having coffee with her friends at Wegman's.  She is also mourned by her numerous friends from Ithaca, Syracuse, Rochester, and Elmira.
