Emily Mary Kubinec, 97, a resident of Newfield passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday August 14, 2013 at Seneca View Nursing Home in Montour Falls. She is predeceased by her husband Frank Kubinec, her parents Frank Paty and Kristina Rezek and her brothers Anton and Josef Paty
Emily was born on June 24, 1916 in Newfield. She was a long-time member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Ithaca and the Czecho-Slovak Club of Newfield.
Emily was a caring mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched with her kindness, love, and gracious servant attitude. She truly was that rare person who thought more of other people than she did of herself. She served her church as a Eucharistic minister and visited homebound parish members. Emily also served for many years as a volunteer with Hospicare of Tompkins County and local food pantries. . Her faith was supported by her deep involvement in Cursillo.
Earlier in her life, Emily owned a restaurant on Black Lake in upstate New York where she was a renowned pie maker. She was employed with the NCR Corporation in Ithaca at the time of her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and most of all - time with her family and friends.
She was the devoted mother of John Kubinec (Beth) of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and of Charles Kubinec (Diane) of Newfield. She was the loving grandmother of Tammy Kubinec of Newfield; Sarrah Kubinec (Carl Carlson) of Buffalo, New York; Noelle Kubinec, a missionary serving in Macedonia; Robert Kubinec (Karen) of Charlottesville, Virginia; Michael Kubinec (Mariko) of San Antonio, Texas and Jack Kubinec of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Calling hours are Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bangs Funeral Home of Ithaca. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a mass of Christian burial at the Immaculate Conception Church in Ithaca, New York on Monday, August 19th at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Following services, Emily's friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon in her honor at the Immaculate Conception Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newfield Community Good Neighborhood Fund (CGNF) or Foodnet Meals on Wheels.
