Elizabeth K. "Betty" Mott

September 5, 1913 — December 7, 2012

Elizabeth "Betty" Mott, who spent more than six decades living in Ithaca, has died at the age of 99. She passed on from natural causes at the Oak Hill Manor Nursing Home. A memorial service will be celebrated by Rev. Dr. James Henery at the First Presbyterian Church at a date and time to be announced. There will be no calling hours. She will be buried in her hometown of Great Barrington, MA with a private family service.

Betty was born September 3, 1913 in Great Barrington, daughter of the late Adam and Cestarva Kraceski and grew up in a family of eleven. Her husband, Russell Mott, preceded her. Her sons, Rick J. Mott on Denver, NY and Jon R. Mott of Amherst, NY; her grandsons, Darrell and Kevin Mott and daughter-in-law, Dianne Mott survive her. Her sister, Ceil Finning of Great Barrington and nephew John Finning also survive her in addition to her sister-in-law, Dorothea Mott; niece, Lorraine Mott and great niece, Megda.

Betty was well known in the community as a wonderful and generous friend who always put her family and friends before herself. She was active along with her husband in the West Hill Civic Assn., Cub Scouts and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and volunteered for a number of years for the Tompkins County Board of Elections. She enjoyed reading, horticulture and being a homemaker.
