Elizabeth Udicious Bromberick, 96, of Ithaca, NY, entered eternal life on February 21, 2018.
Born in 1921 in Hastings, PA, Betty (Udicious) Bromberick was the oldest of 8 children. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence, sisters Barbara and Pat and brother Richard. She is survived by her three children Maryanne Vigneaux, Chuck Bromberick, and Jean Reese; four grandchildren, Timothy and David Vigneaux and Jennifer (Jonathan Reichard) and Gregory Reese; and 4 great-grandsons, Carter, Gavin, Rowan and Linden. She is also survived by her brother William (Jackie), and sisters Nancy (Chuck), Doris and Rosemary.
Betty was the valedictorian of her high school class and very proud of her nursing degree (RN) from St. Joseph's in Elmira, NY. After raising her family, she enjoyed a long career of providing nursing care in hospitals and in a medical office.
Betty was known for her positive outlook, determination and gentle heart. She will be remembered for the very best apple pie on the planet, the many lap quilts she crocheted as gifts, the dozens and dozens of cookies she baked for friends and family especially during the holidays, her prowess with crossword puzzles, the most gorgeous zinnia gardens, her unbeatable vegetable soup, and the myriad greeting cards she sent to everyone she knew on every occasion imaginable. She liked walking and that is how she met many who became her friends. Through the years Betty was part of Senior Chorus which sang at nursing homes and funeral masses. You knew Betty was around because of her cheerful whistling. Our world has truly been enriched by Betty's presence.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 24 at St. Catherine of Siena Church with Father Joseph Marcoux officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Church, Hospicare, or to any organization that provides food for the hungry.
