Eleanor D. Romanowski, 85, of Bundy Rd., Ithaca, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 12, 2018. She was born in Blanford, MA daughter of the late F. Langdon and Ruth Bryant Davis.

Ellie graduated from Cold Spring High School and had attended college downstate and secretarial school in New York City. She was retired from Cornell University where she had worked at the school of Agricultural Education for many years. She worked in the Anthony Egner Architect office following her retirement. Ellie was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church. She loved traveling, loved all animals especially her miniature schnauzers, and always had a kind word for everyone. The love and affection that people have shown back to her, especially throughout her long battle with Parkinson's disease, was a reflection of her own unending kindness and good nature.


A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Ellie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert S. Romanowski; her daughters, Marlene (John) Rifenburgh and Linda (Douglas) Thayer and her grandchildren, the light of her life, Sierra, Hunter, Chelse, Dallas, Morgan and John. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Patricia (Scott) Longrod and Jeanne Davis; her nieces, Darlene Hart, Laurie Davis, Marsha (Steve) White and Susie Dumont; her nephews, David (Lorna) Davis and Peter (Debra) Davis and her many dear friends, including John and Millie Hawbecker, Gordon and Kathy Mosher, Phyllis Norman and Joan Coskey. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her brother, F. Langdon Davis Jr., DVM. The family would like to thank Drs. Ann Costello, Jonathan Mauser and James Gaffney and her caregivers, Adajean Wilson,Katie Jensen,and Ruthann Noe for their loving care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Augustine Chumo on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 10 am at the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 4 to 6 pm at the Bangs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ellie's memory may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, 113 N. Geneva St., Ithaca, NY 14850, Hospicare, 172 E. Kings Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850, Tompkins County SPCA, 1640 Hanshaw Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850 or to the charity of one's choice.
