Eleanor Kathryn Hauan Kane
Eleanor Kane, 94, of Ithaca, NY went to her eternal rest, peacefully at Cayuga Ridge Nursing Home on June 15, 2021. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she moved to Ithaca after marriage to her husband, Robert John Kane, Sr.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Robert, her sister, Rita Hauan Lohman, brother, Arthur Hauan, daughter, Eileen Jane Fischer and grandson, Michael Todd Kane. Eleanor is survived by her sister, Elsie Apgar, Ithaca, NY; two sons, Robert J. Kane, Jr., Sarasota FL and Michael R. Kane, (Debra Campbell Kane) Ithaca, NY and two daughters, Kathleen A. Husar, Lakeland, FL and Diane M. Kane, Bradenton, FL. Eleanor is survived by seven grandchildren, John Husar IV, Tami Shipman Lobdell, Kelly Shipman Merritt, Yvonne Snider Paul, Sarah Kane, Rachel Kane and Karin Kane and 12 great-grandchildren. She loved caring for the family.
Eleanor’s generous, warm-hearted and loving personality will be missed by her family, neighbors and those who knew and loved her.
Due to her commitment and dedication to all, Eleanor was very involved with the Immaculate Conception Church, she was a member of the PTA at the Parochial school, instructed Catechism and was involved with the church Youth Groups, and was a Cub Scout den mother. Eleanor also was a member of the Carmelite group, who traveled within the area visiting the sick and serving communion and prayers to those in need. Eleanor was an active member of the community and always showed her support. She was also a volunteer with FISH, and at Oak Hill Nursing Home, and assisted and organized activities at McGraw House where she once resided.
A calling hour will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 10 - 11 a.m. at Bangs Funeral Home, 209 West Green St., Ithaca, NY. A Mass will be held following the calling hour, at 11:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church 113 N. Geneva St., Ithaca, New York. Online condolences at www.bangsfuneralhome.com
