Williams, Eileen Mae (LaBar)

4/25/1928-4/10/2016: Eileen Mae Williams LaBar. Her spirit left this world after a warrior's battle with Alzheimer's to join all of her friends and family that have walked the path to be in the arms of God. She was well known around town...Eileen, Lee, Mom, Maude, Grandma Baby, Auntie... She was loved by all. She wore many hats in her life... Number 1 was MOM. She worked at Smith Corona in Groton and CrisCraft in Cortland. She was in her zone when she was serving a cup of joe to her friends (never customers) at Pinky's, Nick's Diner, Ithaca Diner, and Bolton's Donuts. Her last job, ironically, was at Lakeside (Cayuga Ridge) where she spent her final years. There were a number of nurses still working there that knew her and gave her tender, loving care. Lee loved people...and always found the good in them. She adored a good road trip, fishing, the ocean and looking for shells on the beach, dogs...Rascal was one of her favorites. Eileen was pre-deceased by her love, Robert Bennett; her husband, George LaBar; her sons, Ricky and Randy LaBar; her mother and father, Mary (Comstock) and Arthur Williams; brothers, Ruben, Sonny, Gerald, and Jack Williams; and sisters, Loretta and Martha Williams. She is survived by her sons, Lance (Betsy), Rod, and Robin (Shelly) LaBar, and her daughter, Ronda Catlin; her sisters, Irene Richards (Izzy) and Shirley Corey; and her brother, Ronald Williams; and her loving grandchildren: Kenneth Boynton Maxwell, Alexa Varricchio (Shane), Tracy Bickerton (Ramar Davis); Jason, Shawn, Christopher, Daniel, Jessie, George (Buck), and KareLin LaBar (Wally), and Adrein Blue Bergling; a kazillion great grandchildren, and a slew of nieces and nephews. She loved each and everyone of them. Eileen had a heart of gold. Her door was always open to all that needed a hand, a cup of coffee, a place to rest, or a home. She was always adding to her family...a real cast of characters...and loved them all! Her passions included music of all forms--country being her favorite, cooking, gardening, traveling, scavenging, yard sailing, and being with her immediate family as well as her extended which was massive. Respecting her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral. She did, however, want so much for her family and friends to join together to celebrate her life with them. The celebration of our lives with her will be at 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 16 at the VFW, 423 West State Street, Ithaca, NY. Eileen came from a very patriotic/military family and in this regard the family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Ithaca. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
