Edwin Eugene Quick of Newfield passed away at home surrounded by family and loved ones on Friday, February 24, 2023 at the age of 71.

Edwin was born in Waverly, NY on August 30, 1951, to the late Clifford and Neva (Goodwin) Quick. Edwin went by many names to include Ed, Eddie, Smokey, Eugy, Grandpa, and Fast Eddy/FE. He graduated from Newfield Central School in 1970 and was eventually recognized for his athletic achievements when inducted into the Newfield Hall of Fame in 2002. He worked  36 years for the Village of Cayuga Heights, Department of Public Works, and retired in 2006. He met his wife, Anne, whom he married on June 10th, 2000. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed playing slow pitch softball and rooting for the NY Yankees, NY Giants, and Syracuse basketball teams. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards, NASCAR, camping, spending Christmas with his family, and making his daily McDonalds run with his chocolate lab, Max. He is well known for his sense of humor and being a part of the Spruce Row Campground community.

Edwin is survived by his wife Anne Quick, and five children Bryan (Jennie) Quick, Jeff Russell, Kyle (Anna) Quick, Heather (Jamie Consler) Fish, Samantha (Deryk Carr) Fish, and beloved pet Max; ten grandchildren, Katie, Christian, Lily, Owen, Ashton, Faith, Hazel, Haley, Georgie, and Reagan; three great-grandchildren; sister Ruth Marshall; and several nieces, nephews, and extended friends. In addition to his parents, Edwin was preceded in death by his siblings Tracy “Sonny” Quick, Charles Quick, Arlene Perkins, Elsie Quick, and pet Moe.

Edwin’s Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Ithaca Moose Lodge, 367 Elmira Road, Ithaca. The family encourages all guests to wear their best Yankees or Syracuse attire in honor of Ed. In lieu of flowers, the family asks those that would like to make a contribution in Edwin’s memory, to kindly consider a donation to Camp Good Days & Special Times.
