Dorothy Sellers

Dorothy May Mickey Sellers, age 96, died November 2, 2017 due to complications of dementia. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Alvin Ferner Sellers, Sr. in 2009. She is survived by her son Alvin Ferner Sellers, Jr. of Ithaca , NY, Mary Ann Sellers Klein (Keith) of South Lake Tahoe, CA, Christine Sellers (Karen Grimm) of Rochester , NY, granddaughters Kate Sellers Seeley of Cherry Valley, NY, Laura Jane Seeley of Hartwick, NY, great grandson Jack Riley Wheeler Seeley, great granddaughter Ava Lee Brashear and her primary caregiver Joseph Alcide Philip Whitmore of Candor, NY.

Dorothy had a master's degree in medical technology and did research with the renown Leo Samuels at the University of Utah. She was an activist on behalf of Planned Parenthood, The Nature Conservancy and the Ithaca Women's Service League. She was instrumental in organizing opposition to plans for building a nuclear power plant on Lake Cayuga. She was an avid bird watcher and dog lover. She was a committed wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

A Celebration of Life Gathering is scheduled for November 25, 2017 from 1-4pm with reflections at 2:00pm, to be held at McGraw House, Geneva St, Ithaca, NY 14850. All are welcome.
