DOROTHY ANNE ISRAEL DAETSCH of Ithaca, NY. Feb 11,1928 - June 10, 2018. Born in Arlington, MA, she carried New England in her heart always.
She was a vibrant member of the community sitting on the board of the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble, and supporting the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra and the Kitchen Theatre. She was also active with the Tompkins County Office of the Aging.
Dorothy and her husband Willard hosted over a dozen international students while they studied in Ithaca and had the door of their home open to welcome family, friends, and strangers at all times.
She was passionate about opera, people, politics, being half Canadian, her ardent belief that women would one day play Major League baseball, and life in general.
Her favorite words are found in the Bible passage 1Cor 13:1-13 and were daily brought to life in every interaction she had. Her life embodied the words: "Love never fails".
She was also an unapologetic Red Sox fan and wore her Red Sox Nation gear with pride even deep in the Yankee territory of upstate New York.
She is predeceased by her parents William Daniel Israel and Annie Eliza Meister Israel, and her husband Willard Ticknor Daestch. She is survived by her daughter Melinda Beth (of West Hartford, CT) and her son and his wife Brian Richard and Linda Lu Daetsch (of Arlington, MA), and numerous cousins in the US and Canada.
We miss you Mom.
