Dorothy Ann Cook, 81, of Ithaca, passed away Friday April 7, 2017 at the Cayuga Medical Center. Dorothy was born in Lyon Mountain , NY to William and Mildred (Cayea) Cook on November 19, 1935.
She graduated from St. Joe's Academy in Brasher Falls, NY. After Graduation she entered the convent as a Sister of Mercy in Tarrytown, NY where she spent six years also serving some of her time on
Staten Island at St Michaels Children's Home. After leaving the convent she then went to work at Potsdam Hospital, and then Fairport Baptist Nursing Home as a Nurse.
Doroty is survived by Sons: Shane (Kiersten) LaBrake, and Steven (Kim) LaBrake, Daughters:Mary Harper and Beth (Matt) Janowski, Grandchildren: Aryn LaBrake, Kodi and Bernie Berry, Sophia and Julia Janowski also Sisters: Beverly Wilson, Shirley Simpson, Marlene Murphy and Jacqueline Diles Brother:Ronald Cook. In addition to
her parents she was pre-deceased by Brothers: Lenny, Kenny and Allen Cook and Sister: Louise Griffin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday April 10, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. at Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Augustine Chumo officiating, friends may Sunday April 9, 2017 from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. at Bangs Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday April 11, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Green Springs Natural Cemetery, Newfield.
Memorial donations in her memory may be made to Immaculate Conception Church or Hospicare of Tompkins County.
