Donald L. Wood, Jr.

Donald Lawrence Wood, Jr. age 69 of Dryden, NY, died in Ithaca Hospice on Sunday October 26, 2014. Born in Ithaca, NY on August 4, 1945, grew up in Freeville, graduated from Bordentown Military Institute, attended Bryant University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business.

Don donated his remains to New York Upstate Medical University for he desired to advance research to help those fighting cancer. Thanks to Dr. Charles L. Garbo, the oncology nurses, Cancer Resource Center of the Fingerlakes and Hospicare for their care and support during Don's battle with cancer.

Don is survived by his wife Janice, son Christopher Lee Wood and his wife Jerissa, grandsons Gabriel and Christopher Tyler, his mother Marian Keane, sister Sherry Wood and Brother Gary Wood.

Don worked at Shortstop Deli in Ithaca for over 26 years. He was always busy and enjoyed the many customers whom he came to know. His smiles and hard work will be missed.

A service of Celebration and Remembrance will be held at the Etna Community Church, 1 Upper Creek Rd., Etna, NY on Sunday November 9, 2014 at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers donation can be made in Don's name to Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca or Cancer Resource Center of the Fingerlakes, 612 W. State St., Ithaca .
