Schaad, Donald Roger

Born in Geneva NY. He is predeceased by his father, Richard Schaad; mother Asenith Schaad, and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his loving wife, Jessica, who adored him and will be lost in this world without him. He will be dearly missed by his 5 children: Daniel (Kathy) Utah, David, Rhode Island, Donna (Kevin) Donnelly, Rochester, Richard, Florida, Peggy, Cortland NY; two step-children, Brandan and Sheridan Sager; grandchildren Corey, Brian, Tim, Lindsey, Jennifer, and Joshua; 3 great grandchildren: Logan, Liam and Emma; brothers Lyle, Gary and Robert; an uncle, Dick Vervalin, Marion NY; an aunt, Pam Ade, Florida; and sister-in-law Melinda (Robert ) Riviello, Rochester NY, along with other relatives and friends.

Don served in the US Navy and US Army; he served in Germany for 20 months. He worked as a machinist for Morse Chain for 10 years and Therm, Inc. for 31 years. He also served as president of TSSO for 12 years. Don was a lifetime member of the Danby Pirates Club; it touched his heart deeply when a group of members recently came together to build him a deck, so he could once again enjoy the outdoors he had been missing. He was also a member of the Danby American Legion Post 221. Don was an avid hunter, fisherman, woodworker and gardener. Don fought a hard battle against cancer this year and was surrounded by family when he passed. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 14, at 1 pm at the Danby Pirates Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Danby Pirates Club or the American Cancer Society. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
