Diane Kari Sweet

Diane Kari Sweet, 69 of Ithaca passed away Tuesday at Cayuga Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born on November 27, 1954 the daughter of the late Donald and Irene Robinson Smith.  Diane was a lifelong resident of Ithaca, working for the City of Ithaca for 13 years.  She was a past president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Elks Lodge 636.  Diane was a devoted wife, mother, and sister. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Predeceased by her parents and brother Donald B. Smith, Jr. Diane is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Jeffrey Sweet; children: Jeffrey (Jessica) Sweet, Jr., Michael Sweet and Christina Sweet; grandchildren: Ashley (Michael) McNeely, Kaitlin Paucke-Sweet, Donald (Mary) Paucke-Sweet, Leone Sweet-Zulu, Layla Sweet; great-grandchildren: Willow, Maddox, Sawyer; sisters: Patricia (Peter) Stage, and Barbara (James) Rogers; along with several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 5th from 11am – 1pm at Bangs Funeral Home, 209 W. Green Street. A Celebration of Diane’s life will be held at the Elks Lodge, 124 Coddington Road, Ithaca at 2pm following the calling hours.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of choice in Diane’s memory.

The family would like to thank Dr. Choe, Dr. Kodali, and all the nurses and staff at CMC’s ICU, Bang Ambulance and Ithaca Fire Department for their exceptional care during this most difficult time.
