Debbie Cartmill, of Ithaca, peacefully passed away after a brief illness on Thursday August 29, 2013 with her loving family by her side.
Debbie was born August 20, 1948 in Potsdam, NY to the late William J. and Sally M. Lewkowski. She attended Canton High School and Canton College from which she Received her Nursing Degree. She dedicated her life to serving and caring for others as a registered nurse for 45 years. She began at Potsdam Hospital,then as a visiting nurse in Springfield, MA, then at Tompkins Community Hospital (Cayuga Medical Center) and for the past 20 years at Oak Hill Manor Nursing Home.
She married her High School Sweetheart , Lee on August 14, 1971 and they settled in Ithaca where they raised their family.
Her children and Grandchildren were the love and joy of her life. She had a heart of gold and loved caring for and spoiling them all.. Holidays were her favorite time of
the year and all she ever wanted for gifts were pictures of her family.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 42 years Lee Cartmill, Sons: Kevin ( Kelli) Cartmill of Ithaca, Christopher (Sarah) Cartmill of Syracuse, NY, and
Daughter: Sarah Cartmill of Binghamton, NY, four Grandchildren: Nicholas, Zachary, Noah and Lily will dearly miss their Grandma (Nana). She is also survived by her Sister: Patricia (David) Guilmette of Ballston Lake, NY, Brother-in-Law: Mark (Lori) Cartmill of Ky. and several Nieces and Nephews .
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday September 3, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at St Catherine of Siena Church with Rev. Joseph Marcoux officiating.
Friends may Call Monday September 2, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Bangs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Debbie's memory may be made to
