Trumansburg: David Michael LaPadula, 60, of Trumansburg, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. David is survived by his wife, JoAnn (Cudlin) LaPadula; his daughter Angela LaPadula; his daughter, Michelle (LaPadula) Kithcart, her husband Chad Kithcart and granddaughter Emma Kithcartt; his parents, Ralph and Audrey (MacLean) LaPadula; siblings, Philip (Rose) LaPadula, Diane Pampuch, Elizabeth Mortlock; and three nieces. David started his working career as a police officer for the Trumansburg Police Department in 1975, becoming the Village's first full-time patrolman. He entered the insurance business in 1978 with New York Life, setting the record for sales as a first year agent. He then transferred to New England Life in 1984 winning numerous awards including New England's "Hall of Fame" award in 1992. David joined Mutual of Omaha where he became the top selling individual health insurance agent in Central New York for almost 10 years. Upon his retirement in 2010, David developed an interest in politics and helped three good friends with their campaigns and was able to see them get elected to office. He was also appointed as the Town of Ulysses Republican Chairman shortly thereafter. In addition to politics, David enjoyed volunteering at the Cayuga Medical Center at the admissions desk and also in the mental health unit. He also enjoyed helping his friend Blair Hoover with his scuba diving jobs. Some of the things David enjoyed as walking the beaches of the world, Italy, music and dancing, playing poker with the "Bandits", and Saturday nights at the Taughannock Concert Series with sunsets at the North Point. David always loved spending times with his family and felt family came first. Holidays and traditions were very important to him. David was a board member of the Ithaca Life Underwriters Associations for many years, a member and past Vice Commander of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 770, Trumansburg, NY, current Town of Ulysses Republican Chairman, and a current member of the Tompkins County Sheriff's Department Advisory Committee. During his lifetime, David tried to be a good husband, father, son, brother, and a good friend. His family meant the world to him. Funeral Services will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 17 at 1 p.m. at the Bethel Grove Bible Church. Friends may call prior to the service beginning at 12 noon. The family will also receive friends at a reception at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave's memory may be made to the American Legion Post #770, Trumansburg, NY 14886. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family
