David Wells Carr left us in the early morning hours of September 15, 2021. Always a morning person, it was a fitting departure. Dave had suffered for nearly a decade from pulmonary fibrosis, a rare and fatal lung disease.

Dave was a lifetime resident of the Ithaca area, spending many years of his life on the Coddington Road, where he was born. There was a deep ancestral connection to the Cayuga Lake region. The Carr family received a land war grant in the late 1790's and named the homestead Carr's Cove. Dave spent many happy times there.

As an avid sportsman, Dave hunted and fished all over the region. He enjoyed hosting his buddies at The Big Buck Club on Coddington Rd., and in later years the Ol' Bucks Club in Caroline, where stories, both true and not, were told. He loved all his beagles.

Hockey was important to Dave and he spent many years involved with The Youth Hockey League, coaching and supporting the teams and his son Mike Carr. He was a mentor to many. Dave's family also had a long love of baseball and family games at Coddington Rd. Community Center were a regular event. Native American history and anything to do with trains were both passions of his.

Dave joined the Local IBEW 241 Oct. 4th 1978. He served as an organizer July 20, 1992-May 31st 1996. Dave was elected Business Manager June 1996 and served until May 31, 2002. After retiring July 1, 2002, he went on to work for a private railway for several years, as a crossing inspector. Prior to his years as an electrician, he worked at NYSEG.
