David Michael Ahlers, Jr.

David Michael Ahlers Jr passed away on Thursday, May 11th surrounded by his loved ones.
Dave was 58 years old. Born in Pittsburgh, PA his family soon made their way to Ithaca and
decided to call it home. Dave, also known as "Mike," in his younger years, graduated from Ithaca High School in 1984.
Dave was an amateur scientist from the start. From model rockets to lasers and elaborate
weather prediction, Dave was born to investigate the world. He shared his love of building and
creating with his dad, spending long hours building rockets (as a kid) and radio controlled
airplanes. Later building Tesla Coils.
Dave met his wife Laurie in September 1999 and they later married in 2001. They have a
daughter, Sara Hartman and grandchildren Faith and Colby. Dave's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Dave is survived by his wife Laurie Ahlers, daughter Sara Hartman, Granddaughter Faith
Hartman, grandson Colby Hartman, sister Laura Larson, nephew Karl Larson and nieces Max
and Hannah Larson; Stepmother Nancy Ahlers, stepsiblings Beaver, Reggie and Chris
Bloomfield Brown and Happy McClurg. Mother-in-law Donna Roorda, Sister-in-law Angie
Noteboom, Brother-in-laws Pete and John Roorda, and many beloved cousins, nieces,
nephews and extended family.
Dave was predeceased by his mother Clare Massey Earle, father David Ahlers Sr, and father-
in-law Marvin Roorda
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 16th from 3 pm - 4 pm at Bangs Funeral Home, 209 W. Green Street, with a memorial service to follow at 4 pm.
