Brooktondale: Daryl Samuel Dayhart, 56, died suddenly on December 24, 2014. He is survived by his sons: Donald William of Brooktondale NY, and Brian Daniel of Ithaca, NY; his sister, Donna Dayhart Nero of Carolina Beach, NC; step-brother, George Williams Jr. of Candor; step-sister, Norma; his aunts: Charlotte Murray of Brooktondale, and Maxine Godfrey of Arizona; an uncle, Stacey Lippincott of King Ferry, NY; his nephew, Herb Parker of Wilmington, NC; his nieces: Heather Parker Curry of Cary, NC; Shannon Alling Lightner of Wendell, NC. Daryl was also fortunate to have a large number of cousins in the local area. His former wife and sons' mother, Sara Bloxsom of Ithaca, NY, survives him. Daryl also leaves behind many long time friends. Daryl was born in Ithaca, NY on September 7, 1958. He was pre-deceased by his father, Donald C. Dayhart and mother, Patricia (Lippincott) Dayhart Williams and step-father, George Williams Sr. Daryl graduated from Ithaca High School in 1976 and attended TC3. He was a 25-year electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local #241, at the time of his death. Daryl was an avid sports fan. He was a lifelong fan of the NY Mets (no matter how bad their season), the Miami Dolphins, the New York Rangers, and Syracuse Basketball. Daryl was a lifetime resident of Brooktondale and loved the hills and streams throughout the area. He enjoyed photography and taking pictures of nature. Daryl was a skilled carpenter, electrician and jack-of-all trades. In the summer Daryl could be found outside, working on a house project, mowing his large lawn, or playing golf. He loved a practical joke, to laugh and have fun. Most of all, Daryl loved his sons. Calling hours and a celebration of Daryl's life are on Tuesday, December 30th from 4-6pm at Bangs Funeral Home 209 W. Green St, Ithaca NY. A private funeral for family will be held on Wednesday, December 31st with Rev. Dale Fold. Burial will follow at Quick Cemetery in Brooktondale.
