D. Michael Vandermark

August 7, 1951 — October 20, 2014

Mike left this earth on October 20, 2014 to join the many others that have gone before him. Mike was born in Ithaca on August 7, 1951 and graduated from Ithaca High School in 1969. For several years he worked as the estimator at Bishops Carpet One and lastly at Warehouse Carpet. Mike enjoyed being on his boat on Cayuga Lake. It could be with just a few or many of his buddies for a day of fishing or just relaxing while listening to music. Mike didn't miss many New York Giants or Yankee games as he could often be heard yelling at the TV.

Mike leaves behind his loving friend and companion, Doreen Bowles, his son Chad (Shannon) VanDermark and their children Julio, Ivelisse, Isabela, Linse, Xavier of Wisconsin, stepson Nathan (Jamie) Bowles, stepdaughter Natalie (Eddie) Vorhis of Newfield, his mother Jean VanDermark and companion Jack Sullivan both of Ithaca, two loving sisters Lynn (Bob) Barbeau of Danvers, Mass. and Debbie VanDermark (Michael Canner) of Forest Hills, NY, brother David (Pam) VanDermark of Seneca Falls, two nieces Heather and Jennifer VanDermark and one nephew Will VanDermark Canner. Mike also leaves four grandchildren that have been the shinning light of his eyes. MacKenzie Brown, Rowan Bowles, Lily and Isabella Vorhis. Mike loved cruising yard sales to see what toys he could surprise them with or spend hours on the internet to find a special new necklace for each of them. Mike was predeceased by his father Donald VanDermark.
