Cleveland Alexander Myers III, 60, left this earthly home Tuesday, March 12, 2019. Cleveland was born August 17, 1958 at Tompkins County Hospital. Left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his mother: Westa Gadsen (Phillip), Baltimore MD; brother: William Myers, Baltimore MD; son: Michael Slowe, Ithaca NY; daughter: Aaliyah Myers Vazquez, Ithaca NY; daughter: Neveah Myers, Ithaca NY; grandchildren: Aryana Henry Myers, Anala Henry Myers and Ayden Henry, Ithaca NY; uncles: Clifford Myers (Gwendolyn), St. Petersburg FL, Sekwii Sha, Bronx, NY; aunts: Irma Thomas, St. Albans, NY, Ruthann Williams (Willie), Colombia, MD, Karen Dixon (Wayne), Colombia, MD, Joyce Buncom (Henry), St. Albans, NY and many cousins and friends. Cleveland was pre-deceased by his father, Cleveland Alexander Myers II and Uncle Henry Buncom.
Cleveland was a long time Ithaca resident and attended Ithaca schools. He spent his senior year in high school in Flushing, NY and graduated from there. Cleveland proudly served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1984. Cleveland was a proud member of the Elks Forest City Lodge, Henry Highland Garnett Chapter. Cleveland achieved a long-held goal by receiving an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences from Tompkins Cortland Community College in May, 2018.
Those who loved Cleveland will remember his smile and infectious laugh, his love for his family and close friends, his concern and care for others, and his quirky personality. Cleveland loved life and had many adventures. He met no stangers and enjoyed talking with people. He knew the Ithaca community inside and out. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and loved them deeply.
