Clarence Slaughter a.k.a. “Gut” a.k.a. “Ice Water” passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 15, 2022. Clarence was 64 years of age at the time of his death. He was born November 12, 1957 to Earline and Augustus Slaughter Jr in Manhattan, New York.
Clarence attended the New York City public school system throughout his education. He was very crafty with his hand. He inherited an art for woodworking as well as boxing.
Clarence adopted the name “Gut” during his younger years. As he got older Clarence inherited the name Slaughter “Ice Water”—as he stated he’s cool like that .
During his adolescent years Clarence worked at the neighborhood grocery store making deliveries and doing janitorial duties. Everyone loved him and the work that he performed. Later he became employed for a courier company as a messenger in the Wall Street area of Manhattan which he was with them for 15 years.
Clarence was raised in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn. In his latter years, he settled in Upstate New York where he was respected and loved by all he came encountered with.
Clarence was always in good spirits no matter the occasion. His smile would fill up the room with joy and laughter. He loved his son so very much he loved his family dearly as well. Clarence will do anything to keep them with a smile on your face. He was also a mama‘s boy although he was not the youngest he would play the part. Clarence would not hesitate to say “ I love you” and he meant it wholeheartedly. Clarence will be missed!!!
Clarence is preceded in death by his mother Earline and his father Augustus Jr. his nephews Jakim , Dominque, and Artie. He’s maternal grandmother Gloverine Addison, his paternal grandfather Augustus Slaughter Sr. And his paternal grandmother Myra Harris-Slaughter, also three uncles Stanley Slaughter, Charles Slaughter and William (Billy) Frank.
Clarence is survived by his son Austin; three brothers Caesar, Augustus III, and Rudy. Four sisters Cynthia Slaughter-Dent, Dianne Mack (Rahmel), Vivian Slaughter-Brathwaite (Stephen), and Tiffiny Bates-Johnson (Micheal). Clarence has 14 nieces, 6 nephews, 4 aunts, 3 uncles. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, other relatives and countless faithful friends.
