Clarence N. (Pete) Nero

Clarence N. (Pete) Nero went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 10, 2012. Pete is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Deborah Reniff of Ithaca; son, Peter Nero (Donna) of Carolina Beach, NC; granddaughters, Erica Reniff and Heather Nero and step grandchildren, Shannon Alling, Heather Parker and Herb Parker. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce McLaughlin and nieces, Ruth Weir Pollard (Terry) and Susan Weir Tritto (Ronn).
After serving with the United States Army, Pete attended TC3 and Ithaca College. He was a charter member of the National Association of Accountants. He retired from George Junior Republic where he served as comptroller, and was also treasurer of the Union Free School District for 23 years. After retirement he worked for Crown Construction and also served on their board. Pete was an honest and unselfish man of integrity who loved the Lord, loved his wife, and loved his family. He impacted the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
He enjoyed being with his family and friends, traveling far and wide and playing golf. He was a member of Gideons International and participated in Bible distribution whenever possible.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1019 N. Cayuga St. at 11 a.m. Friends may call prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lansing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tabernacle Baptist Church. Arrangements are by the Bangs Funeral Home.
