Christopher Joseph Tennant

Christopher Joseph Tennant, of Beaver Dams, NY died on October 27th,
2023, surrounded by love at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY.
He was 59 years old.

He is survived by his two daughters, Devon
Tennant and Courtney Brazee (Brian) who gave him the role of
“Granddad” to two grandsons Trevor and Baylor Brazee. He is also
survived by his two sisters, Priscilla Tennant and Carolyn Tennant (John
Thomas Rinker/Matilda), his uncle, Robert Tennant (Irene), and several
cousins.

He is pre-deceased by his mother Priscilla Tennant, his father,
Bud Tennant, his aunt, June Trayers Becker and uncle, James Trayers, as
well as both maternal and paternal grandparents.

Christopher was born to Bud and Priscilla Tennant on February 28th ,
1964 in Woodland, California. He was blessed with parents with a zest for adventure, who moved the family to Ithaca in 1972. He went on two sabbaticals with his family, going to Boston in 1968 and Cambridge, England in 1979. Christopher graduated from Ithaca High School in
1982. During his youth he devoted his time to the Boys Scouts, earning
the rank of Eagle Scout, Ellis Hollow Troup 55. After high school, he
went on to further his education at several different institutions,
collecting accolades from UC Davis, where he joined his brothers of
Sigma Phi Epsilon and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in
Psychology. He then went on to collect a Masters in Health Education
from SUNY Cortland and a Masters in Social Work from Syracuse
University, before completing his educational portfolio with a
Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY
Cortland.

Most of his professional career was spent in adolescent education. He
held roles in both the instructional and administrative settings in
several New York State districts including OCM BOCES, Newark Valley,
and Sherburne Earlville. For the last several years, Christopher worked
as a Staff Social Worker (LMSW) with Schuyler County. He found joy in
his free time spending time with his grandsons, his dogs, volunteering
with various mental health organizations in the Southern Tier and
working on his property.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Schuyler County Humane Society, who
graciously took in his beloved dogs, Chief and Gracie at the time of his
death, where they are now waiting for their forever home.
