Porter, Charles B. Jr.
Charles Bernard Porter Jr. of Ithaca, New York, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2012 at the age of 89. Charles was a veteran of World War II serving in the 5th Air Force, employed by Cornell University until his retirement. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Union, the Ithaca Elks, and The Southerntiersmen Barbershop Chorus. Son of Charles and Beulah Porter Sr, he is survived by his loving wife, Doris Van Inwagen Porter, of 65 years, and his children, Charles Porter III (Kim) of Dryden, NY, JoAnn Porter O'Neil (James) of Binghamton, NY, Karen Porter George, of Binghamton, NY, Carol Porter Bromel (David) of Seattle, WA, grandchildren, great grandchildren and grand dogs. We'll miss you dad. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Oak Hill Manor Nursing Home for their help and kindness. Memorial Service for family and friends will be held on Friday June, 1,2012 at 11 AM at the Bangs Funeral Home, 209 W. Green St., Ithaca. Reception to follow.
