Charles Edward Odell

Charles Edward Odell, 84, of Spruce Way, Ithaca, died Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the Hospicare Residence. He was born in Ithaca son of the late Harry and Neva Foote Odell and was the widower of Janice VanAlstine Odell who died in 2005.

Charlie served with the United States Navy from December 1952 to October 1954 and was a member of VFW Post #961. He was also a member of the Lions Club and the Immaculate Conception Church. Charlie was a retired meat cutter and former manager of Loblaw's in Ithaca. He has seen most of the world through his love of traveling. He also loved being on the water and fishing and his daily trips to the gym.

Charlie is survived by his daughter and son in law, Tracy and Bryan Cacciotti; his grandsons, Cole Odell and Alex and Nicholas Cacciotti; his dear friend, Teresa Pietrasz; his brothers, James (Tina) Odell and Paul (Juanita) Odell and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife he was also predeceased by his son, Scott Odell and his sisters, Dorothy Odell and Frances Strong.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Augustine Chumo on Saturday, August 05, 2017 at 10 am at the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial with military honors will follow at the Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, August 04, 2017 from 4 to 6 pm at the Bangs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie's memory may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church or to the SPCA of Tompkins County.
