We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Charles E Howard. He went to be with our Heavenly Father on May 1, 2023.
Charles was a great man with an amazing sense of humor, he was loved by many. Charles dedicated his life to Law enforcement. His law enforcement career began at Ithaca colleges in 1967 he served 2 years there. In 1969 Charles pursued his career at Cornell University police. He also worked part time for Dryden police department and US Marshals. Charles, who was commonly known as Sgt. Charles, served in many capacities within the Cornell Police Department. He was very proud to have been a police officer, he would tell stories about the years he had served.
One of Charles’ favorite hobbies was collecting trains and building model police cars. One of his goals was to build a model police car in two different sizes for each US state's police department. He loved to sit in his recliner and watch baseball, Nascar and Fox news. He had a sense of humor that you can never compare to anyone else. He could fill any room with laughter. Charles was a family man, who loved his family dearly. He loved little family gatherings. He would tell each of his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren they were his favorite each time he saw them.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Donna J Howard; his brother, Neal Howard (Pat); his children, Cindy S Meddaugh (Scott), Charles E Howard Jr, Carmel A Macaili (Joseph E), Colin T Howard (Jodi), and Crystal J Bell who Charles and Donna helped raise; grandchildren, Cody J Meddaugh, Megan J Meddaugh, Jessica L Ryan, Dustin Morse, Cady A Dippolito, Colin C Howard, Joey R Macali, Gavin M Howard, Maddalynne J Bell and Theo J Bell; many great grandchildren, who he held dearly to his heart; nieces, Tracy Lorenzini and Alica Turner Howard; also a very special niece, Paige Howard, who he loved spending time with.
Charles is predeceased by loved ones that he met at heavens gates, his mother, Marian L Riker; his father, Delbert E Howard Sr; and his brother Delbert E Howard Jr.
