Catherine or Kut as she was known to her many family and friends was born in Lansing, NY on June 30, 1922 and died January 20, 2016, at the age of 93, after a brief illness surrounded by her family. Catherine worked at Central School (Beverly J Martin) in the library for over 20 years. She was avid golfer and a member of the Newman Women's golf league. She was a longtime member of St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church. She was also a member of Lansing Senior Citizens. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She has a great sense of humor and enjoyed people of all ages. She loved sitting on her front porch and watching Ithaca go by during the summer. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Frank Mike, her parents Abraham and Frieda Caliel, brothers Abraham (Cal), Robert and Fred Caliel, sisters Mary George, Nancy MacDougall, Julia Mike. She is survived by her daughters Cathy (Douglas) Bennett and Collette (Dann) Hayes, her beloved granddaughters Jaime (Tom) Morgan, Sarah Bennett and Erin Bennett and great-grandchildren Nate and Maddie and her sister Sophie Caliel. Also survived by sisters-in-law Marlene Caliel, Linda Caliel and Maryann Caliel as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be at 11:00 am at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church with services at Noon, on Monday January 25, 2016. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 120 West Seneca St, Ithaca, NY
