Cary E. Besemer, 84, of Slaterville Springs, died peacefully at home on Thursday, June 6, 2013. He was born in Slaterville, son of the late Donald and Ruth English Besemer.
Cary was retired from Mix Brothers and had previously worked for Cayuga Crushed Stone. He had been a member of the Teamsters Union and the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local.
Cary is survived by his daughters, Virginia (William) Starr, Judy Besemer, Terri (Jeff Hamilton) Besemer and Donna (Douglas) Derr; his son, Cary (Julie) Besemer; grandchildren, Laurie, Terri (Lowell), Julee (Andrew), Carrie Ann (Scott), Danielle (Brian), Dixie (Ryan) and Jimmy and his great grandchildren, Taylor, Kayla, Lily, Jillian and Ava. He is also survived by his sister, Betty David and brother, Gaylord Besemer and nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Cary was also predeceased by his wife, Barbara Ann Besemer who died in 1996.
Funeral services will be celebrated by Rev. Tim Dean on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Bangs Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Quick Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service on Monday beginning at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cary's memory may be made to Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850 or to the Slaterville Ambulance Squad, 2681 Slaterville Rd., Slaterville Springs, NY 14881.
