Carrie Shipos passed away peacefully January 2 at Beachtree Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She spent her final hours with her son holding hands. She was married to her beloved John Shipos who predeceased her in the early 70’s due to a heart attack. She never remarried.
Carrie was born March 25, 1928 to Charles and Ethel Parks, in Montour Falls, NY. After graduation from College she moved to Ithaca, NY, and eventually on to Lansing, NY.
She is survived by two sons, Mark, Houston, TX and Dan (Connie) Lansing, NY. Four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Carrie spent her early years working for the Ithaca Police Department and the City Assessors office. The majority of her career was spent as the office manager for Drs. Ensworth, Kilgore and Munchmyer.
She loved Friday nights, sharing dinner with her family and friends. As well as, sitting with her children and grandchildren on the point at Myers Park. Watching them skip stones and playing in the water. Her favorite charities were the American Heart Association, the local SPCA and the Veterans. She was a very giving person and enthusiastically supported these organizations.
Graveside services will be celebrated by Rev. Alison Schmeid on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 11 am at the Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday morning prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 at the Bangs Funeral Home.
