Carolyn Anderson Weeks

April 7, 1961 — February 19, 2016

Carolyn Joan Anderson Weeks, 54, daughter of Mary Fisher Anderson who survives her and the late Robert Lloyd Anderson was born on April 7, 1961 at Tompkins County Hospital, Ithaca, NY and died on February 19, 2016 in Newfield, NY.

She lived in Ithaca until moving to Newfield 30 years ago. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and a longtime member of the Ithaca Women's Bowling Assn. She graduated from Immaculate Conception School in 1975 and was a member of the Ithaca High School Class of 1979. Carolyn worked at the Newfield School cafeteria when her children were in elementary school. When her children were in high school, she continued her own education receiving a Registered Nurse's degree in 2001 from Tompkins Cortland Community College. She was employed at Guthrie Medical Center in Sayre, PA, Elmira Psychiatric Center in Elmira, NY, Kendal at Ithaca and lastly by the Visiting Nurse's Assn. of Ithaca, stationed at Titus Towers.

Carolyn loved music and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. She was a former member of both the traditional choir and the folk choir at Immaculate Conception Church. In past years she had sung with several rock bands locally and had recorded tapes from hymns to rock music. She loved her flower and vegetable gardens and canned her vegetables and fruit from her bushes and trees. She provided beautiful flower arrangements at 12 family burial plots at 7 different cemeteries in Ithaca, Newfield, Cortland and Oswego. Carolyn loved animals. She and her family always had 3 or 4 dogs and 3 or 4 cats, many that had been rescued through the SPCA and then lovingly cared for. Over the years, Carolyn had let her hair grow long and then donated it to "Locks for Love" for use by cancer patients. When she worked the night shift she would stop at the mall to join the early morning walkers or would walk the Waterfront Trail.

In addition to her mother, Carolyn is survived by her husband, Roger A. Weeks; her daughter, Rachel Lynn Elaine Weeks; her sons, Michael Robert (Jaimi) Weeks and Joseph Emerson (Juliya Abramyan) Weeks; her granddaughter, Brooke Weeks and grandson, Iouri Joseph Weeks (born 02/26/2016); her brother, Robert Lloyd (Saundra) Anderson, Jr.; her aunt, Evelyn Fisher (Richard) Bittel and her brother-in-law, Francis John (Kimberly) Troy III. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Veronica Troy (Joshua) Lampman, Elizabeth Troy (Shane) McLean, Jennifer Troy (David Barnes), Francis John (Nicole) Troy IV, Rebecca Troy (Chad Manuel), Joseph (Samantha) Troy, Jessica Troy (J.D. Tyrell), Jaclyn Troy (Brandon) DuMont, Stephanie Anderson (Jason) Michaelec, Timothy (Jessica) Anderson, Kelly Anderson (Sean) Davenport, Nicole Freije and Anthony Freije; her grandnieces and nephews, Nickolas, Nathan and Aiden Lampman, Mallorie and Mackenzie Troy, Riley and Emma Troy, Caden, Annabella and Jackson Michaelec, Hudson Davenport and Everett Seeley and many cousins. She is also survived by her in-laws, Alice (Robert) Blovsky, Phyllis Weeks, Stuart (Sharon) Weeks, Keith (Gail) Weeks, David (Dale) Weeks, Lu Anne Weeks and Christine (Edward) Weidman and their families. In addition to her father who died in 2002, Carolyn was also predeceased by her sister, Maureen Anderson Troy (1989) and her aunt, Helen Louise Fisher (2014).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jeffrey Tunnicliff on Friday, March 04, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church. Friends may call at the Bangs Funeral Home on Thursday, March 03, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn's memory may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church or to Locks for Love.
