Carol “Cookie” Crichley, 86, of Lewisburg, PA, formerly of Ithaca, NY, passed away on May 25, 2024 in Geisinger Hospital, Danville, PA.
She was born on March 21st, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late William and Althea Schnippert. She graduated from California State College in California, PA, and went on to get her Ph.D. from Penn State University in Audiology.
She was always on the move. She loved biking, hiking, canoeing, rafting, and skiing, and when she wasn’t doing those activities, she was traveling in the US and abroad. She loved going places in the US and Canada on trains. Trains were part of the experience of going someplace; she could enjoy the beauty of the landscape, and she wasn’t confined to one small area. She will be remembered for her boundless energy.
She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Svitko of Ithaca, NY, her younger sister, Patricia Stewart, of Liberty, Kentucky, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her elder sister Dorothy Hamilton (David); her younger brother William “Bill” Schnippert (Dori); and her former husband Donald Svitko.
She will be interred at Greensprings Natural Cemetery at 293 Irish Hill Road in Newfield at 1pm on May 31st. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tompkins County SPCA.
As mom would always say, “Let’s wait and see what happens.”
