Bruce Hermann

July 2, 1946 — April 29, 2022

Bruce Hermann, age 75, of Ithaca, NY, passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.

Bruce was born on July 2, 1946 to George and Margaret Hermann in Jersey City, NJ. After graduating from Hillside High School, where he was an all-star athlete in multiple sports, Bruce attended college, graduating from Tarkio College in 1971. Bruce went on to a very successful career in Radio Advertising Sales.

The highlight of Bruce’s life were his wife, Helen, and his daughter, Darcy Lynn. Helen had 52 years together with Bruce, who was larger than life and whose smile and laughter would instantly light up a room. His family meant everything to him.  He was the most loving and supportive grandfather to his granddaughters, Cassidy and Magnolia. They, like Darcy Lynn, simply adored him. An avid college football and basketball fan, he could spend hours talking with his son-in-law, Frank, about sports. Bruce and Helen treasured their time together in Ogunquit, ME, most notably when family joined them. Memories made at the beach are cherished times for the family.

Bruce is survived by his wife Helen, daughter Darcy Lynn Hermann Raponi, son-in-law Frank Raponi, granddaughters Cassidy Rose and Magnolia, grand-dog Japhy and sister Barbara Adams (husband Ken), nephew Ken Adams (wife Emily, daughter Katie) and niece Kelly Adams. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Margaret Hermann.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the organizations that Bruce felt strongly about: Special Olympics of NY, Tompkins County SPCA, and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
