Brenda Patricia Renison

Brenda Patricia Renison, 72, passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2023 in her residence in Ithaca, NY.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 42 years, Richard Renison, and her children Eleanor Daniels, Karen Daniels Renison, John Lashley (Rebecca), Hilary Lashley Renison (Quinton) and Douglas Renison. Sadly her eldest son Frank Daniels Jr. preceded her in passing. She is also survived by her five grandchildren Leo, Eamon, Gabriel, Quinton Jr. and Liberty.

Born to Mary Ann (nee George) and Alfred Lashley on July 28, 1950 in Georgetown, Guyana, Brenda migrated to the United States, and raised her family on Long Island NY before settling in Ithaca, NY.

Brenda was a loving mother of six, a retired nurse and former Guyanese government official. A woman of great faith to her Heavenly Father Jehovah, she was devoted to her family’s health, education and well being. She enjoyed music, dancing, travel, gardening and staying in touch with her family.

Lessons learned in her youth, Brenda applied in her life. As a child, she often accompanied her father to court where she observed him resolving business matters. Brenda had a talent for presenting information, a gift she imparted to her children. She attended Nassau Community College (NCC), New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3), but concluded her collegiate studies in her later years, as family obligations took priority.

Her dedication to her family paid off as most of her children completed high school by the age of 16, some with junior college degrees from NCC and TC3, and others would go on to obtain their Bachelors and Masters from SUNY Stony Brook, NYIT, New York University, Cornell University, and SUNY Purchase.

After raising her children, Brenda continued her higher education and completed a Bachelor of Science in Community Health at SUNY Cortland. She valued learning and remained active in her Ithaca community, volunteering at Suicide Prevention & Crises Services, YWCA and taking courses locally.

A private memorial was held.
