Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Miller, 76, of Ithaca, died Monday, September 30th, 2013. Born October 26, 1936, in Albany, New York, Betty Ann was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Elizabeth Brady Higgins. Betty Ann was a 1954 graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names, Albany, NY. She received her Bachelor's Degree from The College Of St. Rose in 1958. After graduation, Betty Ann began her career as a teacher of Business Education in Colonie, NY. It was in the Capitol District that she met and married John "Jack" Henry Miller in October 1960. Betty Ann, Jack and their children moved to Ithaca in 1972, where she continued her teaching career at Ithaca High School. She retired from the Ithaca City School District after nearly twenty-five years of service. Betty Ann remained active in the community as both a librarian and substitute teacher at Immaculate Conception School, and volunteering her time and talents at St. Catherine of Siena Church. Betty Ann is survived by her four children, John Patrick (Beatrice) Miller, Thomas Francis (Debra) Miller, Daniel Gerard (Susan) Miller and Mary Elizabeth (Michael) McDaniel; and her eight grandchildren, Scott, Kelly, Nicholas, Sean, Lauren, Andrew, Emily and Brendan; and one sister, Mary Theresa (Donald) Snyder; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11:00am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, with Rev. Joe Marcoux officiating. Friends may call Friday, from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Bangs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty Ann's memory may be made payable to: Betty Ann Miller Memorial Fund, and mailed to Tompkins Trust Company, P.O. Box 460, Ithaca, NY, 14851, Attn: Greg Acquavella.
