Williams, Beatrice K.

Beatrice K. Williams, 92, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2012 after suffering a stroke a month earlier. Born in Auburn, Maine, Bea moved to Washington, D.C. as a young woman to work at the Pentagon. She married and had four children. In 1958, she and her family moved to Suitland, Maryland, where she worked for Hecht's as a sales clerk and later worked for the U.S. Census Bureau. During her life she was active in the Eastern Star and a member of Ryland Methodist Church, Washington D.C. She was an avid duckpin bowler, still throwing strikes at 90 years old. She enjoyed breakfast with friends at the Suitland McDonalds and bingo several nights a week. In the fall of 2010 Bea and her husband came to stay with their daughter in Ithaca, NY. She loved meeting new people while staying in touch with her family and friends in the greater Washington area. Grandma Bea won the hearts of so many with her crocheted clowns, colorful scarves, and adorable Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy dolls. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Gene Williams; and her children: Mike and his wife, Margaret, of Arlington, VA, David of Suitland, MD, Judy Mighell and her husband, Mallory, of District Heights, MD, and Sally Maragni of Ithaca, NY. Bea has two living siblings: her brother Mickey Deletetsky of Auburn, ME, and her sister Shirley Deletetsky of Portland, ME. She was blessed with grandchildren: Heidi Janss and her husband, Pete, of Wheaton, IL, Melinda Williams of Santa Barbara, CA, Timothy Maragni, Jonathan Maragni, and Jonathan's fiancée, Elana Peterson, all of Ithaca, NY. The delights of her life are her three great-granddaughters, Elle, Jill, and Darby Janss of Wheaton, IL. There are many dear nephews and nieces as well. The family would like to express their gratitude for the treatment provided to Bea by the Cayuga Medical Center Emergency Department and both 4 South and 4 North medical floors. We are grateful for the compassionate end of life care at Cayuga Ridge with support from Hospicare. And last, but not least, our heartfelt thanks to CMC PMRU staff for giving Bea the best chance for recovery, excellent care, and many good days filled with love and laughter. Donations to Hospicecare, 172 East King Road, Ithaca, NY 14850 in lieu of flowers. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family
