Beatrice Marie Bright

Born May 20, 1942, Beatrice Marie (Herndon) Bright (Bea) was called upon by our Lord to come home on October 9, 2022.

Born to parents who preceded her in death, Charles Merton Herndon and Azlean Washington. Bea was also preceded in death by her daughter, Valerie Magee, brothers Charles Hendon Jr., William Herndon (Bill), James Herndon, and George Herndon and a sister in infancy, she was fitted for wings here on Earth.

Bea leaves behind to mourn our greatest loss are her husband, John R. Bright, and children, Walter L. Magee, Edward C. Magee, Crystal A. (Magee) Cannon, Duane H. Magee, and George L. Longmire. Sisters Wilma Douglas, Dorthea Hundley, and Sandy Lisseck as well as brothers Duane Hundley and Reggie Herndon. Bea also leaves behind twenty-three grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild whom she adored.

During her short time on this planet, Bea had several meaningful and important jobs.  As a daycare provider she made men out of boys. As a supervisor at Cornell University's Bursar's Office, she ensured Cornell's books were as they should be. As a mom she instilled life qualities of love, integrity and caring for each other in her children, family, friends, and colleagues.
Her passions included traveling, especially fishing trips, cooking for her family and friends, cruising, sewing, and knitting. Bea will be remembered for her infectious laugh, amazing cooking and being a pilar of strength for her family and friends who meant the world to her.

With heavy hearts she will be missed daily.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 11:00am at South Hill Cemetery, Coddington Road, Ithaca, NY.
