Barry Jed Parker, 70, born in Chicago, Illinois on September 17, 1953, passed away in Cortland,
New York on February 4, 2024. He was the beloved son of the late William T. Parker and the late Dorothy (Jensen) Parker.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Janet Edwards-Parker. They married in Augusta, Georgia in 1997. Their life together in Cortland was a bucolic existence in their home on Lake Como, in the Finger Lakes. He also survived by his brothers, Bradley Parker (Joanie Pallatto) and Chris Parker (Andrea Parker), and nephews Eli Parker and Quinten Parker and niece Zoe Parker. His brother, the late Eric Randall Parker preceded him in death in 2022. He is also survived by his wife Janet Parker's daughters, Lisa Seymour (Michael Seymour) and Denise Dumas (daughter - Destiny Rowland). After graduating from Luther South High School in 1971, Barry attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, followed by Boston University in Boston, MA for his law degree. A member of the Illinois State bar, he practiced Corporate law in Chicago for many years. While in High School in Chicago, Barry was also a member of the Chicago Park District Lifeguards at 57th street beach. As a child, his mother Dorothy would drive all the brothers to visit her relatives in Osceola, Wisconsin. The Osceola Jensens: Uncle Robert (and Carol) Jensen, Uncle Donald (and Jeanne) Jensen, cousins Nancy Beck and Vickie Jensen, and the late Uncle Charles (and Mary) Jensen, Aunt Dorothy Jensen and Aunt Joyce Jensen.
Later in life Barry moved to Augusta, George to live with his father. He always wanted to work more with his hands and became a master carpenter for a new trade, building custom
houses in South Carolina and Georgia. It was as a master carpenter that Barry met and married Janet Parker while working on a project for her mother, the late Beulah Carr.
The Georgia Parkers: Cousins Cheryl Ann and John Gilchrist, cousin Gwen (Ramsey) Sylvain; and the late Aunt Inez (Laury) Parker, Aunt Bea (Ramsey) Parker, Grandfather Reverend Ephriam Berry Parker and Grandmother Linny Hines. The oldest of 4 sons, Barry Parker was always the leader, his brothers would listen to him and follow. We are with his current new journey in life, from life and beyond time. Barry loved all forms of music and since he has moved on, there is music playing from the skies.
