Barbara A. Ryan

Ms. Barbara A. Ryan, 79, of Ithaca, NY, died Monday July 3, 2023. She was born September 1, 1943, in Tucson, AZ. She lived in Ithaca for the majority of her life.

She worked for many years at Woolworth’s Department store and also worked at Longview Senior Living Community before retiring. Barbara loved to read and watch the Hallmark Channel. It was second nature for Barbara to help others, and she especially enjoyed being in the company of those that loved her.

She is survived by her brother Michael Grutzius of Tucson, AZ; daughter Melissa Roland of Myrtle Beach, SC; son James (Cheryl) Ryan of Newfield, NY; step-son David (Jennifer) Ryan of Newfield, NY; step-son John Ryan of Freeville, NY; step-daughter Cynthia (Karel) Sedlacek of Ithaca, NY; step-daughter Deborah (Dan) Ferrell of Reston, VA.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brynn, Connor, Blake, Christina, Phillip, Anneke, Karel, Nancy, and Eugene, as well as several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Rick Ryan, brother Gerald Grutzius, mother Betty Hartson, and father Walter Grutzius.
