Barbara Jean "Beans" Goodwin

March 1, 1935 — October 9, 2021

Barbara Jean “Beans” Goodwin age 86 of Spencer passed away Saturday October 9, 2021 at home with her loving family by her side.

Born March 1, 1935 in Ithaca, NY she was the daughter of the late Donald and Ruth Robertson Ladd

and was also predeceased by her grandson, Oran Cedric Magee III and her great grandson, Micah Rafael Butikima and her husband of 68 years and the love of her life, Frederick Goodwin who died in January of this year.

Children meant everything to Barb no matter their age or race. She is a loving mother to her daughter Kathleen Patricia Moyer; sons, Frederick Michael (Penny) Goodwin and William Robert (Roxanne) Goodwin; her daughter by another mother Laurie Brown-Milton; her grandchildren, Samantha Miller Rorick, Elijah James Moyer, Zachary Michael Moyer, Melinda (Jeremy) Watson, Frederick Jonathan (Kim Guthrie) Goodwin, Jonathan Richard (Judy) Bohmer, Suzanne Audrey (Mercuri) Butikima, Jennifer Lynn Goodwin (Jay) Tammelin, Matthew Allan Goodwin and Alyssa Jo Nicole Goodwin. She is also survived by her beloved great grandchildren, Ashley Rorick, Coltin Woodward and baby Bean due December 23 of this year. Kadi Sue Goodwin, Graham Hunter Goodwin, Ariel Destiny Butikima, Stella Renee Butikima,  her brothers, Richard (Pat) Ladd and Harold Ladd and her sister with whom she shared a special relationship, Patsy Ross and several nieces and nephews. In addition, her special friend Joseph Edwards and her loving team of care givers. The family could not have taken care of Barb in her home without the help of Lori Joseph and Barb’s angels.

Barb had a kind spirit and was loved by all who knew her. She was a devoted mother who loved taking care of others and was a mother to all she met. In her final days she still brought peaceful moments to her children, grandchildren and caregivers who all surrounded her every day. Barb had the ability to still be witty and let everyone know just how she felt in the words of her choice.

She had a laugh and smile that could brighten a room. Her love for Izzy was heartwarming and whenever she was down Joanne would face time her daughter and put her seven month old granddaughter on, which put a huge smile on Barb’s face. Barb referred to Lori as the heart girl, she would always say, “the heart girl is here.” Barb was easy to love and her caregivers always looked forward to their shifts with Barb. She will be greatly missed.
