Barbara Patterson Boda

Barbara Patterson Boda passed on to her heavenly home on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the age of 102. Born September 25, 1913 to William J. and Ethel Bower Patterson, she was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Willard Dimmick Boda, her parents, two brothers Thaddeus W. and William J. Patterson, Jr., sister Daisy M. Patterson and two sons-in-law, Edward Hall, Sr. and Stephen Rice. She is survived by her eight children - Rexford (Jean), Ernest Sr. (Joyce), Joy Hall, Judy Spurling (J Jeffrey), Daisy Wallace (Robert), Frederick II (Linda), Dorothy Rice, and Dolores LeJeune (Michael). She was a grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother of a total of 157. She is also survived by her nieces, Carol Patterson Hunt and Kathleen Patterson Bierce and several nieces and nephews on the Boda side of the family.

A member of the Ithaca High School Class of 1931, she worked briefly for the American Red Cross before her marriage to Willard Boda on October 24, 1931. In subsequent years, she was a busy farmer's wife and mother, and also served as the bookkeeper for the Herbert H. Muzzy contracting business in the 1940s.

A member of the Ithaca Hillside Alliance Church for 85 years, Barbara served in many capacities including Sunday School teacher and financial auditor. Two of her children have served in Christian ministry, and 10 of her grandchildren/great grandchildren are in ministry in the United States, Canada and Africa.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Hillside Alliance Church in Ithaca. Calling hours are 11:00 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. and followed by a private committal service at Hayts Cemetery officiated by Rev. Skip Fields. Serving as pall bearers are grandsons Mark Boda, Michael Boda, Ernest Boda, Jr., Stephen Boda, Edward Hall Jr., Robert Wallace, Jr., Nathaniel Boda, Joshua Wemmer, and Timothy LeJeune.

We would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Galyanova, physical therapist, Scott and Barbara's loving caregiver's, Mary, Monica, Illari, Stephanie, Michelle and Stacie and would also like to thank Bangs Funeral Home for their wonderful help during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hillside Alliance Church Boda Memorial Garden Fund, 1422 Slaterville Road, Ithaca NY 14850. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
