Elmo, Augustine "Louie"

Augustine "Louie" Elmo, 94, of W. Buffalo St., died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Cayuga Medical Center. He was born in Lyons, NY, son of the late, John and Rose Elmo. Although born in Lyons, Louie spent a good portion of his childhood in Gary, West Virginia, which he loved and returned to as often as possible. A carpenter by trade, he worked for many years for McGuire & Bennett, retiring in 1990. Louie was a member of the Carpenter's Local #281, the Immaculate Conception Church and was a former member of the Son of Italy. He served with The United States Army during World War II. Louie is survived by his daughter, Judith (Tony) Leonardo; his sons, Louis (Janet) Elmo and James (Suzanne) Elmo; his grandchildren, Kristina (Dave) Cantleberry, Anthony (Amy) Leonardo and Marc (Julie) Elmo and great grandchildren, Matthew, Katerin and Charlie Mae. He is also survived by his sisters, Amelia "Molly" Elmo and Mary Brown and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Louie was also predeceased by his wife, Filomena and his brothers, Patsy, Leonard and John, Jr.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 17 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church with interment to follow at the Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, April 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bangs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, Immaculate Conception School or to the Horse Protection Society, 2135 Miller Rd., China Grove, NC 28023
