Ithaca: Anna K. Mikula Bowman, of Ithaca, passed away in peace and serene comfort at the Hospicare Residence on April 22, 2012. Born May 25, 1935 to John and Mary Konecny Mikula at Portland Point, NY. A lifetime resident of Ithaca, she worked as one of the first Meter Maids for the Ithaca Police Department and later for Evaporated Metal. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John Bowman; sister, Pauline Werner; brothers, John, Martin and Edward Mikula; and her coffee buddy, Dale VanBuskirk. Anna is survived by brother, Paul (Josephine) Mikula; sister, Barbara Kraft; many nieces and nephews, including Donald (Kris) Werner and Joanna VanBuskirk; brother-in-law, Floyd Werner; and dear cherished friends, Marylee & Richard Park and Bonnie Sullivan. With her love of playing cards, Anna was an Auxiliary member of the VFW, Eagles, and the Moose. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, April 26, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Bangs Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Dean Officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.
