Alice Jean Clark Greene Vidler, of Ithaca, NY, formerly of East Aurora, NY, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at home. She was 88. Born in Buffalo, NY on June 3, 1924 she was raised in West Falls, NY. She graduated from East Aurora High School and lived in central and western NY most of her life. She worked in libraries throughout her career, retiring in 1989 from the East Aurora Public Library. She sang in various church and community choral groups and enjoyed attending the opera and local symphony performances. She loved travel, gardening and cooking, volunteered in the community and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Robert S. Vidler, Jr., of Ithaca, NY, formerly of East Aurora, NY; a son, Kingsley W. Greene and daughter-in-law, Karleen Karlson, of Hannacroix, NY; a daughter, Deborah L. Greene and son-in-law, Jon Tonsoni, of Seneca Falls, NY; a daughter and son-in-law, Lawren J. and Robert Stevens, of Hillsborough, NC; step-daughter Phebe Cook, of Ithaca, NY; step-daughter and husband, Ann and Larry Fetes, of Wilmington, DE; step-daughter and husband, Sue and Don Rakow, of Ithaca, NY; and ten grandchildren, as well as great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Bridges Cornell Heights, Ithaca, NY on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra or your local public library. A celebration of her life is being planned for early June 2013. Arrangements were made by Bangs Funeral Home of Ithaca, NY.
