Alette Albanese

Alette A. Albanese , age 54, of Ithaca, NY passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 surrounded by her loving husband and children following her courageous 27 month battle with Glioblastoma and Gliosarcoma. She was a true warrior who refused to give up in the face of insurmountable odds. She was born in Lansing NY on February 16, 1963 and graduated from Lansing High School in 1981. She obtained an Associate's degree in Forensics from TC3 and was a licensed cosmologist and certified nail technician. In addition she was a NYS Board Certified Nail Technician Examiner. She worked as a real estate paralegal and was the office manager for the Albanese Law Office and then Coughlin and Gerhart, LLP for 17 years.
Alette enjoyed traveling. Her favorite trips were to Canada and the Pacific Northwest. She traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean Islands highlighted by being a working crew member/vacationer on two long sailboat trips through the BVI and Grenadines, with her husband and friends. She spent most of her summer weekends at her favorite place in life, her second home, on the Jersey Shore in Highlands, NJ. She was an inline skate enthusiast and completed several half marathons. She loved watching her daughters cheerlead and compete in dance. She was an avid SU basketball fan and attended most games as a season ticket holder with her husband, friends and family. She tolerated SU Football. She was always the life of the party and was especially well known for her sense of humor, sarcasm and quick wit.
The family wishes to express thanks to the Roswell Park Cancer Center, Cornell Weill Brain Cancer Center, New York Presbyterian Hospital, Cayuga Medical Center and Cayuga Hematology Oncology Associates. Special thanks is given to the CHOA Infusion Center/ Oncology Unit and the wonderful nurses and staff for their compassionate and special care during her illness and to HospiCare of Ithaca for their assistance and support in her final days.
She was survived by her longtime partner and best friend, and ultimately her husband, Jonathan (Jon) Albanese, daughters Ondrea Campagnolo and Julie Campagnolo (fiancé Anthony Ciaschi) of Ithaca, her two stepsons Carson Albanese (Ithaca) and Cody Albanese (Costa Mesa, CA) and her 2 favorite feline fur children Fancy cat and Otto. In addition, she was survived by her parents Alvin and Elsa Ross of Lansing NY, sister Catherine (Cathy) Benson (nephew Chandler Benson and niece Makenna Benson), brother Dan Fleming (wife Pat) and sister Carol Fleming, brother in law Fran Albanese (wife Mindy) of Paris, AR, sister in law Bonnie Albanese of Guilford, CT and sister in law Micheline Gary of Virginia Beach, VA. She also was survived by a multitude of friends (both local and from afar), cousins and co-workers including the most special to her heart Paulette Fisher, Shaunna Halton and Miranda Fisher.
A private graveside service will take place for family and close friends. A Celebration of Her Life Party will be scheduled and announced at a later date. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes to have donations made to either the Ithaca Cancer Resource Center, HospiCare of Ithaca or the St. Jude's Children's Cancer Research Hospital.
