Albert E. Hile

Albert E. Hile, 76, of Manor Lane, Newfield, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. He was born in Ithaca, son of the late Clarence and Phoebe Gibbs Hile.

Al was retired from the Cornell University Heat and Power Plant where he had worked for many years. He had previously worked at Will Scott, Ithaca Bakery, Yengo Distributing, 7UP Distributing, Sherman's Mobil and Mayflower Movers. He was a life member of Cataract Hose Co. #7 and a member of the Ithaca Veteran Firemen's Association. He was also a member of the Ithaca Eagles, a former member of the Moose Club, was an avid bowler and hunter and enjoyed his trips to Tioga Downs.

Al is survived by his daughter, Jean (Paul Rogers) Soule; his son, Albert (Christina) Hile and his grandchildren, Heather and Crystal Soule, John Albert Hile and Olivia Hile. He is also survived by his former wife and caregiver, Dottie Hile and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Al was also predeceased by his brothers, Clarence, Jr., William "Red", Robert and Alton; his sisters, Irene Drake and Mary Hubbell; his infant son and son-in-law, Leonard Soule.

Funeral services will be celebrated by Fr. Jeffrey Tunnicliff on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. at the Bangs Funeral Home. Friends may call prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. A reception and celebration of Al's life will follow the service at the Eagles Club. Graveside services to be held at Calvary Cemetery will be delayed. In lieu of flowers, donations in Al's memory may be made to the SPCA, 1640 Hanshaw Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.
